27 October 2006; The National Standards Authority (NSAI) launched a new standard, I.S. 355, of helmets for hurlers and camogie players at Erin's Own GAA Club, Cork. Requirements will have to be met at all levels concerning construction of the helmet including shock absorption, sliothar and hurley impact. All hurlers under the age of 21 and all camogie players under the age og 18 are required to wear a helmet when playing.
