9 September 2008; Lucozade Sport, the country’s leading sports drink, today revealed the findings from a Hydration Study it undertook with the National Coaching and Training Centre in the University of Limerick. Pictured in Tralee at the announcement of the Hydration Study’s results is Lucozade Sport ambassador and Kerry footballer, Colm ‘The Gooch’ Cooper. The study examined Fluid Intake and Sweat Losses of Inter County Gaelic football and hurling players in a training environment and a total of 240 players were tested between May 2006 and June 2008. Some of the key findings are that 25% of GAA players start training dehydrated whilst GAA players sweat close to 1.25litres during training. Picture credit; Brendan Moran / SPORTSFILE - read more
