A TRALEE PHOTOGRAPHER is the envy of sports fans all over Irelandat the moment – with guaranteed access to the best views of all the action at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

Brendan Moran, whose parents live in Caherslee, is based in New Zealand for the six-week tournament – or at least until Ireland exit the competition.
He is photographing the World Cup for the Sportsfile agency, and his pictures of the action and the emotion of the big event have been making the front pages of newspapers all over the country.
Irish hopes of progress to the final stages of the Cup have been heightened following their outstanding win over Australia last Saturday, and Brendan said this week that the atmosphere around the tournament is electric.
“This is my fourth World Cup with Sportsfile; my first was back in 1999 but there is just an amazing atmosphere here.
“After the win at the weekend in Eden Park there was an incredible buzz around and everyone, even the Kiwis, wanted to be Irish for the night,” he said.
“There is a huge contingent of Kerry people over here, a lot of whom have come over from Australia for the games. “I met people from Dingle, Tralee and Lixnaw this week,” said Brendan.
The Tralee man is heading to Rotorua for Sunday’s clash with Russia before moving to Dunedin for the big game with the Italians next week. “It was a great win against Australia. The place was jammed, with 80 per cent of the crowd shouting for Ireland.
“We hope it continues for a few more weeks,” said Brendan. On his regular blog on the internet, Brendan has been posting details of his photographic projects on and off the field.
For example, he has documented the process of embroidering the Irish team jerseys with their names and dates of games which is being overseen by a New Zealander, Bevan Patrick Ryan, who played at No. 8 with Abbeyfeale RFC a number of years ago.
