Believe it or not All-Ireland time has come around again and for the week that’s in it we will be taking a look back at some of the memorable All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Finals.
Today we take a look back at photos from the All-Ireland Final of 25 years ago, 1989, when Tipperary defeated Antrim in a high-scoring final on a scoreline of 4-24 to 3-09.
Nicky English hitting a remarkable 2-12, an eighteen point total, equaling the tally of the Antrim team, on his own.
Pat Fox and Declan Ryan also hit the net for the Premier County and Bobby Ryan climbed the steps of the old Hogan Stand to collect the Liam Mac Carthy Cup.
We will also be taking look back at memorable photographs taken during hurling’s biggest days, picked by the photographers themselves, so keep an eye out.
