Yesterday we showed you 100 of Sportsfile’s best pictures from the year just gone. Now we are asking the photographers to give an insight into their favourites and the story behind the pictures.

This photo was taken after a Republic of Ireland training session before the friendly game against Turkey, and Roy Keane was attending a pitchside update interview.

Shortly after the start of the questions from the journalists, it started to rain. Roy just pulled up the hood on his training top and cut a very distinctive figure as he awaited the next question from the assembled media. It was just a matter of getting the right expression to capture a nice frame.

Roy Keane is such a great sporting figure to photograph and it is probably one of my favourite pictures of him since his debut for the Republic of Ireland against Chile.
