Leinster Rugby visit the Capuchin Day Centre
4 January 2018; Leinster Rugby and Canterbury of New Zealand visited the Capuchin Day Centre for the homeless in Dublin city centre today to drop off warm clothing ahead of the expected cold snap in the coming weeks. Sean Kavanagh, Global Head of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship with Canterbury said, “In partnership with Leinster Rugby we saw an opportunity to donate kit not already used by the team to a worthwhile cause. Br. Kevin and the volunteers in the Capuchin Day Centre are doing great work for the homeless of Dublin and we are delighted to be able to contribute in a small way to what is a big issue for society as a whole.” Leinster and Ireland Rugby player Dan Leavy added, “Rugby Players’ Ireland have provided a number of opportunities for Leinster players over the last few months to volunteer in Dublin city centre with the homeless and this initiative by Canterbury and Leinster Rugby was another opportunity that the players were keen to get behind. Br. Kevin and his staff in the Capuchin Day Centre have been doing great work for years and hopefully this small gesture will help towards their endeavours.” Br. Kevin Crowley founder and CEO of the Capuchin Day Centre said,“ Homelessness in Ireland is still at crisis point and we need to keep that front of mind. It's a great boost to us all here today to have Leinster Rugby visit and keep the issue in the public domain this winter.“ Leinster Rugby also donated a signed jersey and match tickets to help with the fundraising efforts over the coming weeks.
