Dublin Youth Run for Fun
14 March 2019; Vhi, in partnership with the Irish Youth Foundation, celebrated the successful completion of the ‘Run for Fun’ programme BY 12 young people from the Just Ask Youth Group this weekend. ‘Run for Fun’ is a programme developed by Vhi in partnership with the Irish Youth Foundation, to encourage young people living in rural and vulnerable communities in Ireland to embrace the benefits offered through running. 12 young people who took part in the programme were awarded medals at the Fairview parkrun on Saturday for taking part in the programme and also completing a 5km parkrun. The group spent eight weeks training, building up their fitness level and learning about healthy eating. As part of the programme, there was also a nutritional element so the young people could learn about and taste healthy food options. The goal throughout the programme was for the young people to complete a 5km parkrun which they did on Saturday 9th March at Fairview parkrun.
