Paralympic Athlete Padraic Moran wins Gold in World Boccia Championships

10 June 2010; Padraic Moran, from Bray, Co. Wicklow, celebrates with his mother Catherine Moran, on his return to Ireland after winning Gold in the BC1 Class at the CPISRA World Boccia Championships in Lisbon. The Bray local, sensationally beat home favourite Portugal’s Joao Paolo Fernandez by a score of 3:2 in a thrilling final at the Estádio Universitário in Lisbon’s University complex to take victory This is the end of a long Championship for Moran who earlier in the week led the Irish team to a 4th place finish in the BC1/BC2 combined team competition.
