Kerry, with Denis O'Callaghan, General Manager, Retail Banking, AIB Bank, and their awards at the Press Photographers Association of Ireland - AIB Photojournalism Awards 2011. David Maher won 2nd place in the Sports Portfolio category with the judges citation reading "The photographer demonstrates how shooting against the light can on occasion pay-off very well; throughout there is great use of light and great observation." Brendan Moran won 2nd place in the Environmental category with a picture titled "Snow Seats" a view of empty seats in Croke Park stadium covered in snow during the recent bad weather in December last, with the judges citation reading "The absence of people helps tell the story in a very graphic way while keeping the image simple and powerful. The strength of the picture comes from its very simplicity." This year, over 2,010 images were entered by 123 photographers from around the country, across nine categories - news, daily life, sports action, sports portfolio, portrait, environment, politics, arts & entertainment and reportage. The AIB Photojournalism Exhibition, featuring 122 prints, opens in AIB Bank, Cornelscourt, on Tuesday, 22nd February 2011. It will then go on tour, visiting selected AIB branches and other venues nationwide. Masterclasses for schools, camera clubs and photography students will also be held in locations throughout the country over the coming months. Burlington Hotel, Dublin.
