12 March 2014; Carlsberg hosted a spectacular event in Dublin today to launch their #JOINTHEGREATS campaign, giving Irish football fans the once in a lifetime opportunity to play on Liverpool FC’s hallowed Anfield turf with their mates. Liverpool FC ‘Greats’ Robbie Fowler, Dietmar Hamann and Jason McAteer surprised consumers on South King Street in Dublin and three lucky fans took part in a skills challenge with the ‘Greats’ on a spectacular purpose-built rooftop football pitch on a nearby car park, with the prize of a trip to play at Anfield with their mates up for grabs for the winning team. Each team was captained by a ‘Great’ and the eventual winners landed the first four spots on this ultimate football experience. This amazing prize for 84 Irish football fans includes a VIP trip over to see Liverpool’s final game of the season at Anfield on May 11th as the Reds take on Newcastle United and the money can’t buy experience of getting kitted out in the dressing room and walking out of the iconic Anfield tunnel to play with your mates on one of the most famous pitches in the world. The competition is strictly over 18’s only and runs from March 13th until the closing date of April 20th and can be won by purchasing Carlsberg in participating pubs and off licences, entering via Carlsberg Football’s Facebook page facebook.com/carlsbergfootball or listening into Newstalk during April for a further opportunity to win the prize.
