Federation of Irish Sport deliver a pre-budget submission to Government
25 September 2013; The Federation of Irish Sport, the umbrella body for all of Irish Sport's governing bodies, has delivered their pre-budget submission to the government. In it they called on the government to invest in a programme to create jobs in sport, noting that they could deliver 150 jobs immediately. In the submission they also stated that such jobs would be used to deliver sporting programmes to the widest possible audience, thus promoting a healtheir lifestyle and in the long term better health for the nation. A number of leading Irish sporting figures, including olympic pentathlete Natalya Coyle, international cricketer John Mooney, Olympic open water swimmer Chris Bryan and St Patrick's Athletic footballer John Russell visited St Lawrence O’Toole’s Girls National School in Sheriff Street, Dublin to highlight the importance of sport, particularly to children, and to mark the importance of investing in sport.
