17 October 2000; Ford Motor Company Ltd and the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) today announced a new partnership which will revitalise the way that rugby is introduced into schools and clubs throughout Ireland. This 3 year programme, Ford Tag Rugby, represents the largest investment Ireland by a company focussing exclusively on raising the profile of rugby in the community, amongst both boys and girls from the ages of 7 to 11 and providing equipment and coaching for both players and teachers.
