The J.F. Dunne Insurances Ltd Grand Dublin Swim launch
20 July 2016; The Irish Long Distance Swimming Association are very proud to present, for the third year now, the latest and biggest annual offering of this exciting time chipped event, due to take place on the 23rd July 2016 in the heart of Dublin. The special Ambassador this year will be the Swedish swimming sensation, Anna-Carin Nordin, the first woman in the world to swim the Seven Oceans. With the invaluable guidance of Ger Carty from Dublin City Council’s Sports Promotion Unit, the Children at Risk Programme will have youngsters a special race at 12,00 midday. The goal as always is to create a fun based water sports day for every age and ability - from community based swimmers all the way up to Triathlon & International swimmers with a fantastic location at the Custom House Quay, Liffey Docklands. On the day there will be 'waves' going off every hour on the hour from 11.00 am until 4.00 pm. Each wave will consist of up to 125 swimmers. Swimmers will have a choice of whether to take part/compete in 250 m, 750 m, 1600 m, 5 km, or, for the very first time in the history of swimming in the Liffey, 10 km swims, all of which feature wet suit or non wet suit options.
