9 December 2018; And so the 2019 season begins. On December 9th to be precise as two newcomers to senior intercounty management, Jack Cooney and Eddie Brennan, take their first steps. Jack Cooney is the new man at the helm in Westmeath but he is no novice having served as a selector under Páidí Ó Sé in 2004 when Westmeath won their only Leinster title, and he also had a stint with Donegal. The great Eddie Brennan, with eight All-Ireland senior hurling medals in his collection, was in charge of the Kilkenny under-21 team for two years and also had some experience at club level before taking on a big challenge in Laois.
