Mount Juliet Golf Club on the postponed first day of the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Golf Championship
28 May 2020; Mount Juliet Golf Club member Chris McHugh pitches onto the first green during a round of golf on the date that would have been the first round of the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Golf Championship, part of the European Tour's Rolex Series. The European Tour have also today announced the resumption of the 2020 schedule and The Rolex Series, but it does not include a new date for the 2020 Irish Open. The event was postponed in March by the European Tour due to the Irish Government having suspended all sporting activity in an effort to contain the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Golf clubs in the Republic of Ireland were allowed to resume activity on May 18th under the Irish Government’s Roadmap for Reopening of Society and Business following strict protocols of social distancing and hand sanitisation among others allowing it to return in a phased manner.
