9 May 2020; A room with a view. Borris-Kilcotton hurler Brian Stapleton and Johnstownbridge camogie player Róisín Stapleton watch television in their livingroom overlooking O’Moore Park when they could have been watching the hurlers of Laois and Galway on the pitch below. This was the weekend the championships were due for lift-off but all sporting activity has been cancelled amid a nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus, and the GAA has confirmed that there will be no intercounty activity before October. Incidentally, the framed St Fergal’s, Rathdowney jersey on the wall is a reminder of Brian’s contribution to their Vocational Schools senior hurling triumph in 2006.
