NFL Flag Football Announcement

12 March 2025; More than 50 young players from Greenlanes National School and Scoil an tSeachtar Laoch (both from Dublin aged between 10 and 12 years old) took to the pitch in Croke Park today to showcase their NFL Flag Football skills. Fast paced and accessible for all, flag football is the non-contact format of American football and one of the fastest growing sports globally. Played by 20 million people in 100 countries - women and girls leading some of the largest growth - flag football will be included on the LA 2028 Olympic Games program, led by efforts of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) and supported by the NFL. Greenlanes NS won the inaugural NFL Flag National Championship in December 2024 and represented Ireland at the NFL International Championships at the NFL Pro Bowl Games in Orlando, Florida, U.S., earlier this year. NFL Flag is the official flag football program of the NFL. The NFL will expand its NFL Flag program in Ireland, in a three-year plan to engage over 50,000 young people, as part of an NFL 2025 Dublin Game legacy commitment to growing the game in partnership with Sport Ireland and American Football Ireland.
