Show Racism the Red Card - Presentation Day
23 March 2010; In October 2009, Show Racism the Red Card put out a call for schools, youthreach centres and youth services to be creative in producing entries to a competition. 62 centres of learning responded to our call from all parts of the country involving up to 2000 young people. In addition, it is estimated that more than 15,000 young people have participated in SRTRC workshops over the last year. For the competition young people had to watch the SRTRC DVD and then with the guidance of teachers, tutors and youth workers devise creative ways to communicate their thoughts about the themes addressed in the DVD. Entries were received in the form of poem, testimony, surveys, paintings, pictures and audiovisual. Among the many prizes pupils of St. Eunans National School, Raphoe, Co. Donegal, were awarded 1st place. At the awards is Minister for Integration, John Curran TD, with pupils from St. Eunans National School, from left, Brian Doherty, Sean Friel, Ethan Dangher and Simon McGlynn.
