6 June 2012; Torchbearer Gary O'Brien, from Portmarnock, Dublin, who represented Ireland at the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games, winning a silver medal in the 400 metres. Gary is a big lover of sport; he plays basketball and football as well as athletics. Gary was the winner of the Fingal Independent Young Sport Star of the Year 2011, with the Olympic Flame during the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay through the streets of Dublin.
