Federation of Irish Sport Publishes Annual Review
30 November 2012; Athletes, from left, Leinster and Ireland centre Fergus McFadden, Team Ireland boxer Darren O'Neill, Team Ireland sailor Annalise Murphy and Team Ireland modern pentathlete Natalya Coyle today teamed up with the Federation of Irish Sport, which represents all of Ireland’s national sporting organisations, to celebrate the publishing of the Federation’s annual review. The review is a reminder to key influencers of the positive power of sport in Ireland and also to ensure that the development and funding of sport remains a Government priority. This year’s review sets out the potential for sport in Vision 2020 warning that despite Irish sport continuing to shine brightly, decisions today could have a major negative impact in the future setting Irish sport back decades. It also outlines the importance of sports tourism for the future and also the role of sport in tackling obesity problems. Merrion Street, Dublin. Picture credit: Matt Browne / SPORTSFILE
