19 September 2013; Highlighting the message that Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) affects 1 in 10 Irish people over the age of 50, noted sporting personalities, most of whom have played a ‘number 10’ position across a range of sports, came together to launch AMD Awareness Week at Croke Park Stadium. AMD Awareness Week runs from 23rd- 29th of September to promote early detection of the signs of the eye condition AMD, the most common cause of registered blindness in Ireland.
