FAI & Irish Blood Transfusion Service Announcement
16 March 2015; Every day Irish hospitals need to give over 50 platelet transfusions to patients with cancer and bleeding problems. For cancer patients, modern chemotherapy would often be impossible without the support of platelet donors and the FAI and SSE Airtricity League are joining forces with the Irish Blood Transfusion Service to increase awareness of the need for more platelet donors. Pictured at the announcment are, from left, Fran Gavin, Director of the National League, Dr William Murphy, Medical and Scientific Director of the IBTS, Stephen Rice, Longford Town, and Josephine Lawlor, National Platelet Recruitment manager.
