Announcement of Fingal County Council Football Development Plan
26 October 2007; Plans for a new state of the art Football Academy Complex at a proposed site at Turvey, between Swords and Donabate, for Fingal were announced by Fingal County Council. The Council also indicated that it is facilitating the submission of an application for a senior football club licence to participate in the new League of Ireland "A" Championship from the 2008 season. The development of both initiatives is part of Fingal County Council's Football Development Plan which has been almost 2 years in the making and involves the close collaboration with former Irish International player Liam Buckley who is spearheading the plan.
